What is Petcore?
Petcore is a virtual pet framework designed to power sites like Atrocity and Feral Rise. It keeps the simple, familiar layout of older engines, but updates the internals for newer PHP versions and more flexible features.
Think of it as a forge-made engine: built out of lessons learned from years of hacking on pet games and adapting old codebases.
Core ideas
Petcore focuses on:
- Being easy to mod and extend for other creators.
- Preserving classic pet site structures (shops, adopts, inventories, mail, etc.).
- Improving security, theme systems, and quality-of-life tools over time.
It's built to be a framework you can actually live in, not just fight with.
Project status
Petcore is actively under construction. Pieces of it are already running behind the scenes on other projects, and more documentation will be added as things settle.
Long-term, the goal is to release a full framework package with:
- Core pet/adopt systems.
- Admin tools and logging.
- Theme support and Smarty templates.
- Hooks for different mods and game systems.
